The Public Health Code states that each physiotherapist must work under a written contract, except if he has the status of titular agent of the State, of a local authority or of a public establishment, or when he is governed by legislative or regulatory provisions which do not provide for the conclusion of a contract (article R.4321-128 of the Public Health Code).
Several types of contracts allow you to work as a self-employed physiotherapist, they include :

2/ The locum contract also allows great autonomy and a quick start of activities, at the cost of rigorous organization. It can be concluded for a maximum duration of 3 months, which obliges the locum physiotherapist to have to constantly look for new contracts, with all the logistical difficulties that this may include :
In addition, the income generated by the activity will be dependent on the organization of care where the locum physiotherapist finds a job, with a factor that can range from 1 to 7.7 as explained in this section.
3/ the nursing home contract, for healthcare professionals working on a self-employed basis in accommodation establishments for dependent elderly people.
4/ the practice in a company
There are 2 types of companies allowing to contract the association between physiotherapists, with obligation to register on the Board of the French Physiotherapy Council, and subjected to contribution :
Once written, this contract must be communicated to the local physiotherapy council of the targeted workplace. All contracts and amendments relating to the professional practice of the physiotherapist (lease, company statutes, collaboration contracts, locum, partnership, etc.) must be communicated within one month of their signature. Physiotherapists also have the possibility of submitting their contract projects to the Council.
